5 YEARS OF RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

In 2010, while on vacation in Europe, Dr. Bob Baravarian, a board-certified podiatrist and foot surgeon, found himself in the position of many of his patients. His feet hurt! After walking for hours, the aches and pains in his feet were slowing him down. He looked down at his feet and realized that his socks weren’t doing anything to help his feet. That led to one gigantic epiphany. He needed to:

RE-INVENT THE CLASSIC SOCK!

Back in California, Dr. Bob got to work right away. He joined up with his business partner and entrepreneur, Eddie Kohan, and together they assembled a team to research, develop and manufacture the perfect sock. They took apart every single aspect of the classic sock and examined every detail, vowing to improve each element from the ground up.

FOOT-FOCUSED FEATURES

Dr. Bob and his team discovered quickly that what they needed to do was patent new technology, because it didn’t exist! After years of research and development, Dr. Bob patented our 5-layer weave for the arch construction and trademarked our leg compression system. 

CUSTOM MACHINERY

Meanwhile, Eddie Kohan was discovering that in order to execute the demands that these new technologies require, he was going to need custom machinery! None of the sock factories he was touring all around the world – India, Malaysia, France – were able to create the weave necessary to execute the ArchTek sock. So new machines would have to be built. Traditional sock machines aren’t built to create a 5-layer weave.
